Artist in Residence

Often at the front end of movements are artists using their imaginations to show our communities the possibilities of a different future.  Artists are modern prophets.  They show both the possibility of a hope of “what can be,” and sometimes a darker, “what will be,” if society continues on its current path.

It is because of these artists that RAWtools is able to exist.  These artists have softened the edges of hard conversations and spaces.  They are often the first to enter a space, and at the same time announce that space is possible.  It is with great excitement to announce that as of July 2016, RAWtools has started an Artist In Residence position.

Our first artist to fill this role is Mary Sprunger-Froese.  We can’t imagine a better fit for the inaugural artist.  Mary brings a passion for theatre and creating peace makers in our community.  With over 30 years of local, Colorado Springs work – in theater, education, and nonviolence action, Mary offers a unique skill set to engage her audience toward disarming hearts and forging peace.

MMaryary is eager to use music, storytelling and theater to help RAWtools disarm hearts and forge peace. If you have a story about giving up a gun and getting a tool, please contact her ( She’s collecting stories that help us move to transformation.

To donate to help support the Artist in Residence position, please use the designated button on our Store page.
