Forge Peace by Lisa Longacher
27" x 23"
I created this fiber art when we learned that a friend had completed suicide with a gun. The "canvas" for this piece is the only traditional quilting fabric used from my stash. All other aspects come from guns and gun equipment donated to RAWtools. The anvil, gun, vine, leaves, and strip of red canvas were all created using gun cases that I ripped apart. The vine was pulled from a woven lining from a gun case. The spring entwined with the vine came from the gun itself. I created the flower by using pieces from the gun barrel. A RAWtools volunteer uses a jig to shape the gun barrel slices into hearts, which I used to represent a flower. The stamping was done using the gun barrel hearts and a slice of the gun barrel in its original form.
